Well Child Care
Why Well Child Care?
Health assessments, or “physicals”,
are true “preventive medicine,” and form the backbone of professional pediatric care. An annual health assessment, as recommended by the American Academy
of Pediatrics, provides a valuable opportunity to review your child’s physical, emotional and mental growth and well-being.
In addition to provide a vital opportunity to screen your child for health problems—large or small--health assessments
teach your children a valuable lesson regarding their own role in maintaining their health, and their relationship with health
care professionals.

Teenagers need health assessments too! Many
families incorrectly believe that well patient care is a matter of vaccines, and defer physicals for their older children. Pediatrics is the only medical specialty
specifically trained for the special needs of teenagers and young adults. Teens and young adults to age 21 years benefit greatly
from the opportunity to share their health concerns and related issues with a trained health professional. This time period
is critical in identifying and treating certain conditions which manifest themselves in the teen years.
